I've been messing around drawing Spike and ended up animating this pointless little bit here. I was trying to emulate some Michael Lah style running and I don't think I really succeeded. Though I think the split second when Spike is starting to run in place came out OK. I think it even looks like Spike in one or two drawings :) It's pretty sloppy and rushed but I just wanted to animate something, anything. I added music (cut up pieces of Scott Bradley scores) because I can't help myself, and it's not quite as boring to watch.

Yes, that little "dance" after the take is very nice! Good work, too, with the music.
I agree, it's very nice. I really admire your ability to get down to some animation when you feel you need to. I haven't animated anything in ages. I really need to, but I never feel confident to pull off what I want to do!

Thanks for the encouragement guys! I really want to spend more of time animating than just drawing from model sheets. I think I learn even more that way. I want to try and work on something using Bobe Cannon's smear techniques. Something along the lines of his scenes of Dan Backslide from the Dover Boys. Have you ever watched those scenes frame by frame? It's amazing work.
Oh, yeah! I used to have a nice 16mm of THE DOVER BOYS and would marvel at it on the rewind table. Of course, now it's really easy to still frame it on the DVD player. I'm looking forward to what you come up with!
This is going to sound like a stupid question, but for these little pencil animations, do you just scan all your drawings once they are done or do you do something else?
Yeah I just scan the pencil drawings and then import them into Flipbook.
Alright, thanks man, fun little animation here by the way!
hahahaha funny running animation
great stuff. :D
